WASTE DATA SOURCES
CORE WATS DATA SOURCES
The records at the foundation of a complete waste ecosystem.

COST + OPERATIONS
Invoices
Billing documents with dollar values. WATS treats any record with cost data as an invoice, even when it also carries service, tonnage, container, fee, credit, rebate, site, or waste-stream details. Every detail on the invoice is ingested.

OPERATIONS
Hauler / vendor data
Operational records that exclude financial details, including pickup reports, tonnage exports, service data, and vendor spreadsheets. Often the most direct view of waste generation when available, but quality checks are still essential.

VERIFICATION
Scale tickets / weight tickets
Weight records from scale houses, transfer stations, MRFs, or vendors/processors. These are a useful source-of-truth when verifying tonnage against invoices and hauler reports.

REGULATED STREAMS
Manifests
Movement and disposal chain-of-custody documentation for regulated, specialty, medical, hazardous, and other waste streams.

INTERNAL OPERATIONS
Internal records
Internal logs, spreadsheets, notes, and operational records maintained by site, ops, and sustainability teams. These inputs can keep the data picture moving when formal vendor records are missing, delayed, or incomplete.

SERVICE-LEVEL DATA
Waste schedules
Service expectations for waste streams, container infrastructure, collection frequency, vendor, and site. With this context, WATS can estimate waste generation and fill data gaps where tonnage is missing.

FLEXIBLE DELIVERY
Emails with attached or embedded data
Email is a major delivery path (not a waste data type itself). Vendors and site teams can CC or forward WATS emails containing invoices, reports, manifests, spreadsheets, or waste data directly in the message body.

STRUCTURED IMPORT
Spreadsheets / CSV files / import templates
Structured files can carry invoice summaries, hauler reports, custom exports, or manual reporting templates. WATS supports configurable import templates because standardized waste-data APIs are still the exception, not the rule.

SITE-LEVEL Tracking
WATS Surveys

COMMERCIAL + OPERATIONS
Vendor contracts / service agreements
Commercial and operational agreements that define expected services, pricing, terms, sites, containers, schedules, fees, rebates, and reporting obligations. WATS uses them to validate invoices, flag billing errors, check service compliance, and interpret expected operations.

MATERIAL MOVEMENT
Bills of lading (BOLs)
Shipment and material-movement records that help verify what moved, where it went, and what may have been received by downstream processors.

LIVE OPERATIONAL SIGNALS
Waste bin sensors
Sensor feeds can add timely context on bin fullness, pickup frequency, compactor activity, and service triggers, helping teams connect real-world conditions to collection records and optimize service.

COMPOSITION + OPPORTUNITY
Waste audit data (coming soon!)
Audit results from manual sort studies, characterizations, or third-party assessments reveal what is actually in a waste stream. WATS uses this evidence to estimate generation, model potential cost savings, and illuminate practical diversion opportunities.
WASTE AS A TRACKABLE UTILITY
More ways to prove, enrich, and complete the picture.
DELIVERY MECHANISMS
Send data your way.
Email / CC from data provider
Providers can copy WATS when sending regular invoices, reports, and manifests.
Forwarding
Teams can forward relevant records from existing inboxes without changing vendor behavior.
Upload / drag-and-drop
Share files directly when you have them, no new workflow required.
Manual entry
Capture measured, observed, or operational data when no digital record exists.
SFTP / folder transfer
Move recurring files from secure folders into a reliable intake process.
API
Connect directly where dependable waste-data APIs are available.
Vendor portal pull
Pull available records from vendor systems when access and integrations allow.
ONE SOURCE OF TRUTH
Your data doesn’t need to arrive perfectly to become powerful.
Bring WATS the documents, records, and signals your operation already produces. We’ll help turn them into the reliable waste intelligence your team can act on.
